common denominator....

i can't get enough of the greek key- it's such a classic design element. but what i really adore is the exaggerated greek key- its totally edgy! i feel like kelly was the first to bring this look to the design scene. and from there, it has really taken off...
i often think about replicating amanda nisbet's greek key headboard (that room is killer)...sometimes, i even think i can try to make it myself...but then flashes of unfinished projects come into my head and that idea is quickly squashed...
and then there is ann gish's greek key bedding ensemble....it is beautiful. although, i don't know if i would have all of those pieces together on one bed but the pillows and maybe the dustruffle would look killer in a room.
my eyes always zoom in on the key- anyway its used. kind of crazy that i don't have any in my own house...maybe one day! have a great monday!

for the love of LULU....

it's guaranteed to be fabulous....
a) recipe box from jack and lulu
b)the lulu flat from jcrew
c) bench fabric: none other than lulu dk....mega fab

monogrammed wallpaper!

i love this funky custom monogrammed wallpaper by given campbell (what a great name)!! it looks fab in those store fronts and in the hallway. i am sure that it may not come with a cheap price tag but if you limited the use, it sure makes a great custom statement. check out all of the other wonderful custom papers by given at her website or you can find them here in the states at sudio printworks.

Eddie Ross...before & after

so awhile ago i wrote about how i was having a dilemma about painting "antiques"...well, thanks to eddie ross (martha/ top design coolio), i have now decided that painting is OK. i adore what he has done with this secretary- too freaking cute. it looks awesome and makes me want to grab some primer and get to work right away (only i don't know if it's good to paint when you have had some wine in your system)....i think i have moved away from wanting to paint my DR chairs and am now focused on my china cabinet....if only i was a good painter....

is that fall in the air??

so when i went and let barron out this morning i noticed that it's actually/ slightly cool outside today...this makes me super excited. as i waited for him to "do his business", i flipped through the anthropologie catalog and immediately fell in love with these ruffled riding boots....i think i love the fact that they spice the already fab riding boots w/ a ruffle...so girlie/ so me :)

could you do this....

best in show....

osborne and little's fall collection has this playful pooch wallpaper. i think its fun...maybe not for my hallway, but a mudroom would be super cute....

austin harrelson....

my beloved magazines did it again...they introduced me to people i love. no matter how many times i may have looked at them, i constantly find things that excite me. this AM i was fumbling through looking for inspiration for my bedroom (wow does it ever need some help). you know how you always get caught up in this one article, well my eyes constantly go back to this house in domino's november 2006 issue...i have used it many times for inspiration for my clients...austin harrelson's florida home is so perfectly put together. its livable but classic...it constantly has me in awe b/c he has two small children and it looks so great...now i just wish he would share more of his work on his website...it's still under construction but his home is worth checking out.

the desk....

i have forever been in love w/ this one desk offered by williams sonoma home. i have wanted it for such a long time; its the legs- the beautiful polished chrome sawhorses totally grab me. you see it in many magazines (my hero designer uses it as her own desk, as well as in her client's homes). and now it seems like it has a couple of friends made by pottery barn and west elm that are giving it a try....

glenn gissler design

i love it when i stumble upon new designers....today happens to be glenn gissler whose portfolio is far from shabby. i am loving the simplicity of his interiors- they don't come across as over decorated. the pics above are of a bachelor pad; the black and white totally caught my eye- i think i am fixated on that letter "E" framed. also if you ever wondered who designed michael kors' west village apartment....now you know!

the back roads....

this weekend, we spent a lot of time on the road, well interstate, for the most part. on our way to pick up tay from my parents, we decided to veto the interstate and go back roads...now i am not going to lie, i at times put up a fight w/ my husband who loves the "adventure" of finding new ways to get places...i think its b/c i just picture us getting lost(aka into a fight) and then it just adds more time to the trip when i just want to get there the quickest way possible.

however, i did not protest on the way home and i discovered just how beautiful back roads really can be. we live in the lowcountry and you just take forgranted all of the beautiful things we are surround around with- water's everywhere, marsh grass, and historic preservation around every corner. hence, old sheldon church, a place that i dreamed about getting married but copped out b/c of my fear of rain (how lame). you can find her on the "back roads" of traveling to beaufort...and she makes your heart skip a beat and you swallow your pride for even thinking of protesting "back roads"......
