the drive back home....

wherever i make the trip back home, i always drive the same way...i've done it for past 11 1/2 yrs. it's an interstate kind of drive, you know, the painfully boring one where you set your cruise control and sing your heart out to an itunes mix.
this time, i decided to be adventurous... i let the GPS take me home...i am from a small GA town- the kind that requires you to pass lots of cow pastures to get there...a town that apparently when you push the "home" button, you are instantly steered on a path where cell phone service is not accessible...
on tues, i realized, maybe i'm not an interstate kind of girl...i kind of like those country roads and i love the feeling i get when i enter the town's city limits and walk back into my childhood home...

powder coated....

these make me feel happy and girlie...you know like you just took out your compact, powdered your nose, and applied fresh lip gloss....

ink blue....

growing up, the color of my dad's pen was always the same...in fact, the pen itself was always was the same one; nothing fancy- he's not that kind of guy... but always ink blue.
that color is no longer just reserved for a piece of paper...

the dining room chair....

i thought i would share a little collection of dining room chairs that i have saved for inspiration. i am still searching for the perfect chairs for my dining room table (that currently resides in our garage...how sad).

farm life

i love this picture of shannon fricke's foyer at her farm house (that wallpaper and cane bench are amazing). it was just published for the australian magazine insideout. shannon traded in her red carpet heels for life on the farm...and from what i can see, life looks pretty good!

neutral settings....

don't get me wrong, generally i am a color kind of girl but lately i have been drawn to a soothing color palette and these neutral spaces are making me swoon..

his and hers....

think you are seeing double? i love both versions of the greek key bedroom...wonder who inspired who...

the office....

if you are going to have sit somewhere for eight hours a day, do yourself a favor- make it pretty....

oh to be young again....

i adore the creativity you can put into a child's room...it's without restrictions, it's slightly dreamy, and it allows you to once again be a child at heart. have a wonderful weekend w/ the ones you love...

will you turn on the light?

i think it's safe to say i'm obsessed w/funky light fixtures. i love it when people are creative with lighting...using vintage fixtures can really define a space and placing lights that aren't "typically' suppose to be in a certain spot really gets me excited. here are perfect examples of lights that make me super happy and slightly envious....

the colors of the rainbow....

i had never heard of blue star before last week, when i became engrossed in reading a blog about a 257 yr old house renovation by a girl named katy elliot. i grew up in a 100+ yr old house that was constantly being renovated and so the pictures bring back major memories of my parents tackling our house (secretly, i think i would love to do the same).

katy did major research to figure out what kind of gas range to buy for their kitchen comparing all of the top brands viking, wolf, etc. and her pick was blue star, a restaurant grade range that is available for the home. yesterday i received an email from blue star regarding their color selection for the ranges...and i was sold- 190 colors to choose from....now that makes a designer's heart go pitter patter....

wallpapering w/ a recession...

today it is a miracle if you are one of the few who haven't been hit by some form of a recession. wallets are a little tighter and our minds are geared to think "do we really need that".....design is definitely taking a backseat but good design doesn't have to come with a huge price tag. if you find yourself in love with a wallpaper that is a little more than you would like to spend, don't disregard it but rather become creative with the space you use it...think backgrounds of cabinets, armories, closets, and bookshelves or tiny entryways and halls...

sorry...

i have been MIA!! so this weekend we are venturing out to take taylor to see scary clowns, elephants, and dancing bears; wish us luck....hope y'all have a great weekend...promise to be back to normal next week. thanks so much to everyone who sent me luv- right back at you :)!!
